At a height of approximately 100 feet, the Aguasabon Falls near the town of Terrace Bay in Ontario, Canada, are a vision of beauty as they cascade over the rock ledges. During a Spring flood, a massive amount of water thunders over the rock ledges into the raging Aguasabon River.
As the gorge winds through the steep cliffs, where the river originates at Long Lake, the water will eventually make its way to Lake Superior. The river is 43 miles in length and the Aguasabon Falls are located near the town of Terrace Bay, one which became a municipal township in 1959.
Located just off Highway 17 in Ontario, Canada, the Aguasabon Falls are easy to access and very impressive when the water is at its highest point. The main viewing deck shows the beauty of the sides of the falls which cascade down the gorge but a nature trail of difficult terrain, will take visitors to the bottom of the gorge for a different perspective of the Aguasabon Falls.
After a massive rain storm, the flood gates at the dam are opened to allow the excess water out making the Aguasabon Falls triple in size as they plunge over the cliffs. While visiting Terrace Bay in Ontario, Canada, the Aguasabon Falls only takes a few hours out of a day to view.
