Amongst the coulees, buttes, cliffs and gulches in the Big Muddy Badlands near Castle Butte in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada, the landscape is famous for the ranches. The Badlands was a prime location for outlaws to lie low for awhile, but not too many of them ever bothered the people which ran a ranch, the horses were their main concern.
Today, people who visit the Big Muddy Badlands will find a ranch where people still keep up with their daily lives and other ranches, such as the Burgess Ranch, which is a great place to explore and learn the history of the Badlands.
