During the spring season, the streets in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada come to life as the colorful tulips begin to open and show off their vibrant hues. The bright red colors bordered by yellow are beautifully marked on each petal on this tulip as they fold around the center in the shape of a cup.
The stem on each plant usually holds one flower head which come in a variety of colors. Tulips are bulb plants which are planted in late summer and fall and begin to show signs of life in early spring.
Tulips are the most popular type of flowers grown by gardeners as they need limited care. As long as they are planted in full sun, well draining soil and are watered, the tulips will return with their colorful blossoms year after year.
