Common Murres Bird Rock Newfoundland Labrador


Hundreds of Common Murres breed on the tiered rock ledges near Bird Rock at the Cape St Mary's Ecological Reserve in the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland Labrador, Canada.

Common Murres are brownish black along their backs and throat with white coloring on their chests that extends down to their feet. They find the rocky coastline of the Cape Shore in Newfoundland Labrador near Bird Rock an excellent place for breeding where they will stay until their chicks have hatched and they are ready for flight. After leaving Bird Rock, the Common Murres spend the rest of their time offshore in waters that are prime for feeding.
