From a viewpoint in the town of Elkwater in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park in Alberta, Canada, visitors can look out over the scenery of Elkwater Lake. Due to the fact that Elkwater is located in a provincial park, a small population of a little over a hundred people reside in this town, but many tourists spend their time hiking across this wilderness landscape.
Elkwater Lake is a fairly small lake in the southeastern region of Alberta which covers approximately 0.9 square miles and only reaches a maximum depth of 28 feet. Hiking up to this scenic viewpoint, one can see how cabins and houses run along the south side of the lake. The entire town of Elkwater has one hotel, a general store, a gas station, a restaurant, a marina, a visitors centre, a 9-hole golf course and a half a dozen campgrounds within a close range.
