Fleur de Lys in Newfoundland, Canada is a quaint seaside town with a population of about 300 with the main source of income being fishing. Along the waterfront of the harbour, fishing stages and houses are seen while the docks are lined with fishing boats.
People in the town of Fleur de Lys used to spend their days and nights on the fishing boats until 1992 when the cod moratorium came into effect and many vacated this town. Fishing boats still come and go everyday but not nearly as many as there once was.
Found along the Dorset Trail in Newfoundland, Canada, many tourists stop in Fleur de Lys to see the Dorset Soapstone Quarry, a National Historic Site, and to enjoy the sunsets which decorate the sky over the harbour. The coastal scenery from the harbour is stunning and at certain times throughout the year, people can watch icebergs float by.
