New Brunswick is the largest of Canada’s three maritime provinces. It is situated beneath Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula, borders the state of Maine (USA) to the west and is connected by a narrow isthmus to the province of Nova Scotia in the southeast.

New Brunswick is a scenic province, with the ancient Appalachian Mountains, forests, farmland, rivers, and fantastic beaches. National and provincial parks are great places to explore New Brunswick’s varied landscape.

On Grand Manan Island, one can view rugged cliffs, lighthouses, or enjoy bird and whale watching in Fundy Bay. Kouchibouguac National Park, along the province’s eastern coast, features an extensive boardwalk that traverses through unique bogs, salt marshes and dunes. In the Appalachian range in the northern part of the province, Mt. Carleton Provincial Park boasts the highest mountain in the province.

New Brunswick has several major rivers, including the Saint John, Restigouche and Miramichi rivers. The reversing falls of the Saint John River, which change direction according to the tides, are worth a visit. The longest covered bridge in the world crosses the Saint John River at Hartland, New Brunswick.

The capital city of New Brunswick is Fredericton, where one can visit the historic Garrison district, the Sports Hall of Fame, or take in the colourful local market. Apart from the capital, the province has several other cities including Bathurst, Campbellton, Dieppe, Edmonston, Miramichi, Moncton and Saint John.
