Historical Memorial Church Statue Grand Pre Nova Scotia


In the center of the walkway leading to the historical Memorial Church in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, stands a statue named Evangeline.

On top of a large rock pillar in the center of the walkway leading to the historical Memorial Church at the Grand Pre National Historic Site in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, stands the Evangeline statue. The statue is made of bronze and Evangeline is a symbol of the determination and persistence of the Acadian people.

The Memorial Church was constructed in the 1920's and is a memorial to the men and boys who were deported after the Deportation Order was read on September 5th, 1755. The deportation started in 1755 and continued until 1762.

Today, people can visit the Grand Pre National Historic Site while in Nova Scotia, Canada and learn of the history of the church, wander the beautifully landscaped grounds and admire the Evangeline statue.
