Boxes of nails stacked at the Fort Walsh National Historic Site in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park in Saskatchewan, Canada are separated into groups, each weighing 25 pounds each. Different size of nails are used for each horse, some being Number 6 nails while others are Number 7 nails, all made by I.G. Baker & Co. in Fort Walsh.

Fort Walsh National Historic Site was home to the North West Mounted Police from 1878-1883 and later used as a place to breed horses and boxes of nails were always needed for the various types of horses. The majority of the residents in Fort Walsh were ranchers and horse ranching was one of the leading economic activities in the Cypress Hills area.

These boxes which contained horse nails are on display in one of the buildings at the Fort Walsh National Historic in Saskatchewan, Canada. Today, visitors can browse the buildings while visiting this popular tourist attraction and view the different types of horse nails used in earlier years.
