Looking out over the beautiful waterways, this lightkeepers residence was built in 1875 to house the lightkeeper and his family. When the Point Amour Lighthouse was built between 1854 and 1857, it stood solo along the waterfront but more vessels began passing through the area and it was easier to have a lightkeeper living close by.
The red and white building has two different entranceways which were built on the opposite side of the building where the winds were not so strong. Today, the buildings are open to the public where a world of history is displayed relating to the lightkeepers residence and the lighthouse in the town of L'Anse Amour in Southern Labrador, Canada.

Built in 1857, the Amour Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada and 2nd highest in Canada.
