Louisbourg Punishment Cape Breton Nova Scotia

At the Fortress of Louisbourg in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, the punishment of a fisherman is being re-enacted for visitors.

In the years around 1744, punishment was dealt with in a very different way than it is in today's world and people would have to pay for the simplest crimes. At the Fortress of Louisbourg in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, this fisherman was convicted of stealing a bottle of wine and everyone in town gathered around as he was placed in a iron collar.
