Docked along the wharf at the Matthew Legacy Site in Bonavista, Newfoundland in Canada is the replica of the historic ship known as the Matthew.

While walking along the docks at the Matthew Legacy Site in Bonavista, Newfoundland in Canada, visitors can admire the beauty of a replica of the Matthew ship. The Matthew was a ship which was sailed by John Cabot in 1497 when Newfoundland, Canada was discovered and the replica has been on display at the Matthew Legacy Site since 1997.

Visitors can board the replica of this famous ship and tour around the waters of Bonavista imagining what life was like for John Cabot. A variety of events take place while on board the Matthew, some which include stories, local entertainment and snacks.

The replica of the Matthew is 78' long with a sail measuring 2,360 square feet and a beam that is 20'6". This part of history can be seen daily from the end of May until September when the Matthew Legacy Site in Bonavista, Newfoundland is open.
