An aerial view of a large iceberg floating aimlessly in the Strait of Belle Isle in Southern Labrador in Newfoundland Labrador, Canada. This aerial pictures lets one see how a large mass of ice is slowly meting above the surface which is only a small portion of what lays beneath the water.
The water floods across the base of the iceberg creating a green appearance while the blinding whiteness of the peaks still remain intact. As the days pass, chunks will break away from this iceberg forming new ridges and crevasses, continually melting and changing the appearance of this iceberg.
The iceberg originally broke away from a glacier in Greenland and has traveled the waters for approximately 2 years before reaching this destination in the Strait of Belle Isle in Southern Labrador. Vessels traveling through the Strait of Belle Isle are always leery of icebergs as the base usually fans out under the surface creating a hazard.
