The town of Placentia, once known as Plaisance, is located on the southwest coast of the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland, Canada which spans across the coastal forested area. From Fort Royal at Castle Hill National Historic Site, the view of the town of Placentia is picturesque nestled away in a sheltered area.
Placentia is the ancient capital of Newfoundland and has been a famous, well designed location since the 1500's where it was easy to keep an eye on the English enemies.
