The Hudson Bay adorns the backdrop in this picture but it is still not frozen for the Polar Bears to set out on the ice and search for Ringed Seals. While waiting, this Polar Bear travels along the rocky coastline with ears perked listening for unusual sounds which we were able to capture while traveling through the area.
The Polar Bear is the largest predator near the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba and fears very little except human interference or the attack of another Polar Bear. Other wildlife which is often seen in or around the Hudson Bay are belugas, caribou, seals, arctic foxes and ptarmigans, all which are very adaptable to the cold Arctic climate.
As winter gets closer and the rocky coastline becomes slightly blanketed with snow, the Polar Bear knows it will not be long before he can feast on Ringed Seals. The first chance these marine mammals have of capturing a Ringed Seal, after several months of barely eating, will be one which shows the ravenous appetite the Polar Bear has.
