As one roams around the Norstead Viking Site in L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, Canada, they can see the reconstructed sod huts once used during the days of the Vikings. Some of the sod huts around this historic village were once home to a boat house, viking houses and a church, all which visitors can tour through when visiting this popular tourist attraction. Costumed interpreters relive the viking days, tell stories and perform demonstrations on the various activities the Vikings did on a daily basis.
Inside the huts, the interior walls have been reconstructed with wood panels while the floors are made of earth sod. Once a thriving Viking Port of Trade, the Norstead Viking Site is the only genuine Viking site found across North America.
From the onset of June until the end of September, the Norstead Viking Site in L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, is open to the public. The is a learning and fun experience for all family members and one worth seeing while in Newfoundland.
