As the mint in Ottawa became to small to produce enough Canadian coins, a facility in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba was constructed and started the process of coin making in 1976. The building which houses the new Royal Canadian Mint in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba is triangular shaped with rose colored glass on the exterior appearing more pink when the sunlight glistens off it.
The landscape in the City of Winnipeg is flat and the building appears to rise out of no where with its architectural design. The rose colored glass used on the exterior of the Royal Canadian Mint was to ensure this landmark is easily recognized along the skyline.
The landscape surrounding the Royal Canadian Mint is a beautiful green color with a variety of trees bordering the building, all which reflect in the rose colored glass. Ducks, geese and other species of birds use this lush grass area as a place to relax in the warm summer sun.
Guided tours are available for those interested in seeing how and where money is made, something which attracts many visitors yearly.
