The sunset decorates the sky in golden hues around the International Bridge in the City of Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, Canada. The bridge spans the St. Mary's River crossing between Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in Canada and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in the USA.
The opening of the International Bridge was in October of 1962 after two years of constructing this 2.8 mile long crossing. A toll is charged to cross the bridge but many are willing to pay the fee rather than reverting back to days before the bridge. A small ferry or rail car were the only forms of transportation before the International Bridge, making the trips considerably longer.
The most picturesque view of a sunset and the bridge is from the Soo Locks where you can watch the sun slowly dip below the hills leaving reflections across the surface of the St. Mary's River.
