Waterfall Mist Rainbow Kakabeka Falls Thunder Bay

A mist rises above the thundering water of Kakabeka Falls in Thunder Bay, Ontario where a rainbow arcs over the top of the waterfall.

Kakabeka Falls or the Niagara of the North, in Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada, has a mass of water flowing over the rock ledges during a spring flood creating an incredible show for visitors to the area. As the waterfall thunders 131 feet to the pool below in the Kaministiquia River, the mist rises above the deep canyon walls forming a beautiful rainbow in the sunlight.

Kakabeka Falls is a short 20 minute drive from Thunder Bay, Ontario where you can see how the Kaministiquia River has carved its way through the canyon. This waterfall is one of the largest in the world and as the snow melts from the mountain tops during the spring, the river rises and thunders over the steep cliffs.
