A bright yellow halo beautifies the sun before it dips down behind the buttes and cliffs across the farmland in the Big Muddy Badlands in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada. The entire landscape is highlighted at sunset as dirt roads meander their way around the acres of farmland, some passing by the odd sign.
Many years ago, each farmland was run by a different family and was the main source of income for the people in this region of Southern Saskatchewan. Outlaws used these badlands as a means of escape from the Northwest Mounted Police, some very well known and dangerous like the Sundance Kid and Butch Cassidy.
Today, visitors to the Big Muddy Badlands in Southern Saskatchewan will still find a ranch or two which has been passed down through generations of families and continues to run smoothly. The Burgess Ranch is open to visitors where they are updated on the ranch life in the Big Muddy Badlands, the notorious outlaws and the history of the area.
Each sunset which glows across the Big Muddy Badlands, can highlight the landscape in yellow, orange, pink and/or red hues creating some unforgettable moments for travelers, especially photographers.
