The Sweepstakes shipwreck has been sitting in Tub Harbour in Fathom Five National Marine Park in Ontario, Canada since 1885 when it sunk near the city of Grand Rapids. The ship was towed into Big Tub Harbour waiting for repairs, but the ship went under before the repairs could be completed.
The Sweepstakes sits idle in fifteen feet of water in the clear blue waters of Lake Huron where divers can easily explore the remains of the ship. When the water of Lake Huron becomes shallow during the winter months, parts of the shipwreck, Sweepstakes is well above the surface of the water. The Sweepstakes, is a great ship for inexperienced divers to learn about the techniques and strategies of diving.
