... Newfoundland and Labrador have several ecological reserves, which protect these critical breeding areas.

Canada’s north is a destination for many migrating birds, which breed in the Canadian arctic during the spring and summer months. Canada Geese, Swans and many other birds can be seen migrating north in the spring and south in the fall. Northern Canada also has many resident species (there all year), such as the northern hawk owl, and willow ptarmigan.

Birdwatchers are drawn to the west coast of British Columbia to see birds such as the large and majestic bald eagle. The Canadian Pacific coast is a major migratory route, and is teeming with bird life.

Point Pelee National Park in the province of Ontario is one of the best-known destinations for birders in Canada. The park has 370 species of birds and attracts upwards of 300,000 visitors a year.

All across Canada, forests, prairie, lakes, rivers and tundra offer habitat for many kinds of birds. An abundance of sea birds can be seen off of the Pacific and Atlantic coasts.

Birdwatchers and photographers will return to Canada again and again to explore the amazing diversity of bird life.
