Winnipeg Wolves Historic Rail Bridge The Forks Manitoba

Pedestrians walking over the Historic Rail Bridge at The Forks in the City of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada where they stop to admire the statues of locally painted wolves.

Each of the wolves howling on the Historic Rail Bridge which spans the Assinboine River at The Forks in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, stand 7.5 feet high and each one has been painted by a local artist. These statues stood on the Historic Rail Bridge for three months in 2008, after which the sponsor who selected the artist they wanted to paint them, were responsible for doing what they wanted to do with each one.

The Historic Rail Bridge is a lighted crossing which is used by pedestrians and cyclists and many tourists have walked this route and photographed the wolves during 2008. In the backdrop, the Esplanade Riel Bridge, a side-spar cable bridge, is also a pedestrian bridge which was completed in 2003. ... continue below the picture...

The Wolves of Winnipeg, a pack of 7.5 feet high howling wolf statues painted by local artists on the Historic Rail Bridge (spanning the Assiniboine River) at the Forks, a National Historic Site in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The vertical structure behind the wolves is the Esplanade Riel Bridge, a pedestrian bridge which spans the Red River.
